When I was a little boy, I remember enjoying massaging the head, shoulder, and back of the elderly and young adults. I did some different types of what we now call tapotement.
I graduated from high school in the Philippines and was able to study at National Radio School Institute of Technology to become a General Radio Communication Operator.
Because of financial difficulties, I was not able to pursue what I really wanted to be: an engineer and a defense lawyer.
For 15 years, I worked on cruise ships touring the world. I held various positions.
I did some massages to my fellow crew members applying eastern massage which I had learned from the old folks in the Philippines.
I was trained for smoke diving equipment rescue operation in smoke filled room in Helsinki Finland.
I was trained to prevent spread of hazardous materials.
I was trained for chemical safety.
And participated in a program for public health.
I have worked as a caregiver while I have been in the U.S. I have also worked as a singer and keyboard player and as an expert tailor specializing in suits, trench coats, slacks, shirts and more in San Francisco.
Now I am certified administrator running a Residential Care Facility for Elderly. It is licensed for six residents.
I firmly believe that I have a gifted hand and I want to use this not only for daily chores but to changes people’s lives.
I am a very compassionate person, especially with the elderly. I use this compassion for residents, as well as the other people who need my gifted hand.
This is the turning point of my life. I have decided to become a massage therapist. I’m not looking only at what is in front of me, but I am looking at the horizon.
Now that I am a certified massage therapist, I’m still educating myself in different kinds of modalities. This is my calling.
